October 31 - November 6

Welcome to Confident in This, a blog designed especially for FpStudents, although everyone is welcome!  Please join us each morning for a guided quiet time!

Thursday, October 31st

Jesus used parables to teach us about God and His kingdom. Why would he complicate things and not just tell it to us straight? Well… God always has a plan and His teachings are no different.  Everyone loves a good story, and stories are more memorable than lecture content. Jesus wanted his listeners engaged, and he wanted us to THINK not just hear a message.

Definition of parable: a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson, as told by Jesus.

Jesus used parables in response to situations, problems, or attitudes he encountered. It is important to remember these stories also apply to our lives today! The Bible is not a history lesson; it is filled with current events!

Pray: Thank God for His awesome presence in your life.  Praise Him for your blessings and the daily provisions He supplies. Thank Him for His grace and unfaltering love. Ask Him to use you for His purpose and His glory. Ask Him to make you more like Christ.

This week, we will look at different parables and apply them to our lives. Pray that God will open your heart and mind to understand His teachings and help use them in your daily walk.

Friday, November 1st

Read: The Parable of the Two Sons
Matthew 21: 28-32
28 “What do you think? A man had two sons. And he went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work in the vineyard today.’ 29 And he answered, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he changed his mind and went. 30 And he went to the other son and said the same. And he answered, ‘I go, sir,’ but did not go. 31 Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes go into the kingdom of God before you. 32 For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes believed him. And even when you saw it, you did not afterward change your minds and believe him.

Think:
In this parable, Jesus is rebuking the Jewish leaders, but let’s look at it today…
You can’t just talk the talk; You gotta walk the walk! Everyone, no matter their background, their dirty past, or their self-proclaimed righteous path, can simply say they believe and enter heaven. It takes repentance and faith. No one is perfect. What would we be without Christ?

Pray: Thank God for His awesome presence in your life.  Praise Him for your blessings and the daily provisions He supplies. Thank Him for His grace and unfaltering love. Ask Him to make you a doer of the word.
James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Saturday, November 2nd

Read: The Parable of the Persistant Widow
Luke 18: 2-8
He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

Think: Persistence- firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.
Jesus teaches us to pray continuously. When the world presents troubles, we seem to turn to God more easily. In times of need, we ask for healing, comfort, or guidance. But we need to ask for God’s guidance and protection DAILY.  Satan does not stop working when the sun is shining, the bank account is in the black, or our bellies are full. Pray continuously knowing that you are not talking to an unjust judge like the widow, but the most Righteous judge. God answers prayers even when we do not know the answers. Persistence in prayer is evidence of faith.

Pray: Thank God for His awesome presence in your life.  Praise him for your blessings and the daily provisions He supplies. Thank Him for His grace and unfaltering love. Ask Him to help you trust in Him. Ask him to give you patience and persistence in your prayers.

Sunday, November 3rd

Read: The Parable of the Ten Virgins
Matthew 25: 1-13
“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ 12 But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

Think: Are you ready? In this parable, Jesus is answering the disciples’ request for what sign to look for to show the Lord’s coming. Are you the wise virgin prepared for Christ? Jesus tells us to be ready at all times. Hmmm… I know there are words coming out of my mouth in times of anger that I would not want to be my last. I know I have selfish behaviors I would not to be my last actions. And Oh my thoughts, they are not always Christ-like. I have to consistently work on improving my words, actions, and thoughts. Thankfully, I do not have to do it alone.

Pray: Thank God for His awesome presence in your life.  Praise him for your blessings and the daily provisions He supplies. Thank Him for His grace and unfaltering love. Ask Him to continue to mold you. Ask Him to remove the satan-like qualities of anger and greed and increase the Christ-like qualities of love and patience.

Monday, November 4th

Read: The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree
Luke 13: 6-9
And he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. And he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?’ And he answered him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and put on manure. Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”

Think: How many times have you fallen short? I have lost count, and I do not pretend that I will not fall short again.  The truth is, we ALL need God’s grace. The truth is, we should ALL be cut down, but Christ died for us, so we could have more time to bear fruit. Our fruit does not save us, but God does care about our fruit.

Pray: Thank God for His awesome presence in your life.  Praise him for your blessings and the daily provisions He supplies. Thank Him for His grace and sacrifice. Thank Him for his patience. Ask Him to help you bear good fruit. Ask Him to help you apply His word to your life.

Tuesday, November 5th

Read: The Parable of the Lost Sheep
Luke 15:4-7
“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.’ Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.

Think: Anybody have any experience with sheep? Unfortunately, I do… I grew up with horses, but at one point my mom wanted sheep. They are not the brightest animals.  They tend to wander, get lost, hurt, trapped in fences, etc. Yikes, that’s what we are being compared to! Let’s be honest, we are weak, we stray, and we often make bad choices. But, oh how my mom loved those sheep! She would walk the fields to search for them, call them to eat with the sing-song word “lamby-pies”, and stay in the cold barn to care for them. God loves us even more than that! Jesus is our shepard and He seeks us daily. He celebrates the moments when we return to Him and repent.

Pray: Thank God for His awesome presence in your life.  Praise him for your blessings and the daily provisions He supplies. Thank Him for His grace and unfaltering love. Ask Him to use you for His purpose and His glory. Ask Him for guidance so you do not stray.

Wednesday, November 6th

Read: The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant
Matthew 18: 21-35
21 Then Peter came up and said to him, “Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times.  23 “Therefore the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished to settle accounts with his servants. 24 When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 And since he could not pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and payment to be made. 26 So the servant fell on his knees, imploring him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you everything.’ 27 And out of pity for him, the master of that servant released him and forgave him the debt. 28 But when that same servant went out, he found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay what you owe.’ 29 So his fellow servant fell down and pleaded with him, ‘Have patience with me, and I will pay you.’ 30 He refused and went and put him in prison until he should pay the debt. 31 When his fellow servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place. 32 Then his master summoned him and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you pleaded with me. 33 And should not you have had mercy on your fellow servant, as I had mercy on you?’ 34 And in anger his master delivered him to the jailers, until he should pay all his debt. 35 So also my heavenly Father will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your brother from your heart.”
Think: "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." ― C.S. Lewis
Forgive with sincerety. Why do we expect God to forgive us, yet we struggle to forgive others? We hold grudges and express bitterness toward those who wrong us or even just annoy us. As we apply God’s word in our lives, we must allow forgiveness to be part of our character. It may not be easy, but it is God’s expectation for us.

Pray: Thank God for His awesome presence in your life.  Praise him for your blessings and the daily provisions He supplies. Thank Him for His forgiveness. Ask Him to help you forgive others. Ask Him to take away the bitterness and anger.  Ask Him to make you more like Christ.

October 24th-30th

Welcome to Confident in This!  Scroll to today's date for a daily worship song, guided study of God's Word, and prayer.  This week's topic is very important.  Please talk to your small group leader if you have questions.  We would all 4 be happy to have an open and honest conversation about this difficult topic!

Scripture:
2 Corinthians 4:6-10
6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.  7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.  8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.  10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
Philippians 2: 14-15
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.”  Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky.
Matthew 5:14-16
14 You are the light of the world.  A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Read 2 Corinthians 4:6 above, stopping at the word “darkness.”  Let’s just hang out right there for today.  We’ve talked a lot the past couple week’s about what we do with God’s glory but have you really stopped to take a look at God’s glory?  Click here and watch this video.
Think-
God created all that and infinitely more that we don’t even know about!  Period!  That’s all I want you to think about this morning!  Focus on his glory!  WOW!
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Ask God to give you a fresh look at his creation today.

Read verse 6 again, but all the way through this time.  All that glory that we saw in yesterday’s video…  God has put all of that is our hearts!  With all that inside, we should be walking around shining that stuff all over everybody.
Think-
I don’t know about you, but for some reason I don’t always feel like the glory of creation is shining out of me.  “Maybe ya’ll are just more spiritual than me.”-ZS :-)  But what holds us back from letting God’s glory shine out of us every minute of every day?  Really consider some possible answers to this question.
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Ask God to help you identify things that are holding you back from shining.

Saturday, October 26
Worship-
Study-
Yesterday, we left off wrestling with this question—What keeps us from letting God’s glory shine out of us every minute of every day?  Philippians 2: 14-15 offers some insight into the answer.  Read this scripture above.  This verse says there are essentially two things that hold us back.  #1- We grumble and argue too much.  God directs us in a way that will bring him glory but we say, “No, God.  I think I’ll do it my way.”  Like Jayson said a few weeks ago, if we want to see God’s glory, we have to get out of the way!  #2- We live in a “warped and crooked generation.”  God created us for perfect glory but we were born into a sinful world.  Therefore, we must constantly battle our own selfishness in order to shine God’s glory.
Think-
On a daily basis, what are the things that stop you from shining God’s glory?  How can you combat those things?
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Ask the God for self-control when it comes to grumbling, selfishness, or other things that get it the way of shining.

Sunday, October 27

Read 2 Corinthians 4:7.  A clay pot seems like a strange place to keep a priceless treasure, doesn’t it?   They could break so easily!  But we are those clay pots.  God chooses to keep his amazing treasure, his glory, inside of us!  It seems insane doesn’t it?  Like clay pots, we break easily.  We crack under pressure.
Think-
According to this verse, why does God allow us to be the vessel for his glory?  What does that say about God?  What does that say about how God feels about us?
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Ask God for humility to shine His glory, not your own.

Monday, October 28

Read 2 Corinthians 4:8-9.  Many times, people quote these verses in attempt to bring comfort in times of trouble.  Perhaps, at first glance, they almost seem out of place in the context of this passage.  But read them again, this time starting with verse 7.  Do you see it?  God stores all that breath-taking glory inside of us in order to show His glory.  We are as fragile as clay pots, but the maker of the universe takes care of us.  We can’t reach our “glory potential” on our own.  We would shatter.  In 2 Corinthians 12:9 God tells us, “My power is made perfect in our weakness.”
Think-
Do you tend to try to shine up your “clay pot” and show it off?  Or do you shine God’s glory from inside?  What is the result of each of these?
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Ask God to reveal his glory through the thing you are struggling with most right now.

Tuesday, October 29

Read 2 Corinthians 4:10.  Hmmm… Why would we carry death around inside of us?  That doesn’t seem like something that would attract people to Christ, does it?  Or does it?  At what point in all of history was God MOST glorified?  You got it… the moment when Jesus Christ died on the cross to fix the relationship between God and humanity broken by sin.  Because Christ died to glorify God, and we are Christ-followers, we are called to live our lives for His glory.
Think-
Do you ever have to sacrifice anything to glorify God?  If yes, what?  If no, do you think that’s okay?
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Pray for the courage to make a sacrifice for God’s glory.

Read Matthew 5:14-16.  You ARE the light of the world… NOT should be or could be.  The light is already inside of you.  God placed the light of his glory inside of you when you accepted Christ.
Think-
Do you let that light shine out?  In what ways does your light shine?  Does God get the glory for these things?
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Ask God to help you use the gifts He gave you to glorify him.

This week, Zac challenged us to view Jesus in the way that John the Baptist viewed him.  John believed in his heart that Jesus was worth living second to.  This week, keep a running list of all the things you know about Jesus.  Focus on what each of those things says about Him.  The more we know about the awesomeness of Christ, the more we desire God’s glory.

Friday, October 18

Reread this week’s scripture.  In this scripture, Paul asks us to look at our motives behind service. Who are we trying to please when we serve?  When volunteering for charity, am I doing it to show God’s love to people or to look like a good person?  When I lead worship, do I do it to glorify God with song or am I performing for the other people there?  When I help with FpKids, do I hope that kids see Jesus through me or that someone sees what a good job I’m doing?  When I write a blog post, do I hope that people will grow deeper in their walk with Christ or that people are impressed with my words?  (Ouch!)  This scripture says that your answer cannot be both.  If we are serving to impress others, we are not serving Christ.
Think-
In what ways do you serve other people?  What is your motivation for serving?

Saturday, October 19

After yesterday, you might be wondering if it really matters why you are serving as long as you are serving.  We are tempted to say that because we are serving, we are obeying his command to serve one another.  However, there is more to it than simply serving people. John 3:30 says, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”  If we are serving to impress other people, we are glorifying ourselves, or putting ourselves the spotlight.  If we turn every act of service to the Lord, he receives the glory.
Think-
Does the motivation behind service matter?  How does motivation affect the outcome of service?
Reflect-

Sunday, October 20

Study-
For many people, wanting to be in the spotlight is a huge temptation.  That’s because we were designed for glory! We were made in God’s image and God is glorious! The good news is, we reflect God’s glory like a mirror!  2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “And we all, who with unveiled faces reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord.”  When God is glorified, people see that glory in us and want to know the source of that glory.  So we get to be glorious too, just like we are created to be.  It’s just not our own glory.  It’s a reflection of God’s.
Think-
Would you rather have attention yourself or reflect God’s glory?  How does each make you feel?

Ok, I totally get it, and I do want to reflect God’s glory… but that’s hard!  Yeah, it is!  How can you possibly change motivation?  Most temptations are different.  You think about them, but then you can stop yourself from acting upon it.  You have to intentionally make a decision to cheat on a test or let ugly words come out of your mouth.  But to stop yourself from having selfish motives in service?  That’s seems almost impossible.  And by ourselves it is.  But that’s where the Holy Spirit comes in.  In John 14:26, Jesus tells us that he sent the Holy Spirit to live inside of us and remind us of all the things that He commanded us.  And one of the fruits of the Spirit is self-control (Galatians 5:23.)  So we already have self-control living inside of us.  If we are struggling with the temptation of glorifying ourselves, we can pray that the Holy Spirit would fill us with self-control in situations in which we are tempted.
Think-
Are you being ruled by a spirit of self-control?  What would change in your life if the Holy Spirit transformed your greatest desire to be glorifying God?

In John 14:13, Jesus says, “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”  Does this mean that God is going to answer every single prayer the way we want it answered?  No!  When we pray in Jesus’ name, we are praying that the prayer would be answered in the way that brings God the most glory.  Why would we want to limit a God who can do “exceedingly and abundantly more than we dare to ask or hope” (Ephesians 3:20) by telling him what to do?  When we are focused on God’s glory, that’s when the REALLY amazing things happen!
Think-
Do you trust that God is “working all things out for our good” (Romans 8:28) when your prayers are not answered in the way you want them to be?  When is a time that you ended up being thankful that God did not answer in the way you hoped He would?

Whether you're in trouble and want God's help or you want to offer up praise for the good things He has done, all your needs can be found in the Word.  Scripture can be used to pray, praise, and learn about God.  This week, we will use verses from Proverbs and Psalms to pray to God.
Proverbs 21:21 He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
Think-
We have studied Philippians 2 and Jayson told us to let God’s glory shine through us.  To do so we must think the way He thought.  Jesus’ life was the greatest example of righteousness and love. We need to seek to follow His example. How do you follow His example? (Write down your answers in a journal this week.)
Pray-
Lord, Thank you for the way You work in my life.  Thank you for my many blessings.  I pray You will help me to seek righteousness.  I pray You will help me to show love in everything I do. I pray I will follow Your son’s example and continuously pursue honesty and compassion for others.  I trust Your ways will lead me to prosperity and honor. Amen

Psalms 9:1-2  I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart; I will recount all of your wonderful deeds. I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
So often, we take for granted the blessings of our daily lives; the conveniences, the safety, the luxuries.  Remember all that we have is from God, and He gives in abundance.
Think-
How often do you thank God for His work in your life?  What do you often take for granted? (Write your answers in a journal this week.)

Psalm 19:14  Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.
Reread all of this week’s scripture.  Has your prayer life changed?  Have you seen a new power or purpose in God’s Word?  We are made for God’s glory.  We must humble ourselves and praise Him.
Think-
What other verses can I apply to my prayers?  What scriptures have I memorized that I could give back to God? (Write your answers in a journal this week.)
Pray-
Lord, thank you for all that you are and the ways you work in my life.  Let my days be a reflection of You.  Let Your glory shine through me.  Let the words from my mouth, the thoughts in my head, and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in your sight.  You are my rock and redeemer.  I choose to follow You.

Scripture:
2 Corinthians 10:5- We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.

1 Samuel 16:7- But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Song of Solomon 4:7- You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you.

Proverbs 3:5- Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.

Romans 12:2- Do not conform to the patter of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Thursday, October 3
Study-
Read the Corinthians verse above.  This week is a little different from the past blogs. While we will be reading scripture, we will also be pulling in Joyce Meyer’s Power Thoughts. The goals of this week are to help us take our thoughts captive, to strengthen our self-image, and to further trust in the Lord.  For this to be the most successful, take the time to read the verses, write the day’s power thoughts on your mirror with an erasable marker, and say them every time you pass your mirror or have a negative thought. For each day, the power thoughts will be a part of the prayer. We are commanded to obey God through our thoughts. We are supposed to control our thoughts and take them captive in order to have positive, encouraging thoughts and therefore have a positive self-image.  This prepares us to support others as well.
Think-
What negative thoughts do I think about myself? (Write down your answers in a journal this week.) What negative thoughts do I have about others?
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Pray that God would show you areas of your life where you may feel discouraged or have negative thoughts about yourself. Pray that God would make these Power Thoughts a part of your life and your view of yourself: I am difficult to offend. (I take captive only positive thoughts). I am content and emotionally stable. (I am confident in myself. Others do not affect me).

Friday, October 4
Study- Read the verse in Song of Solomon. In this verse, the author (unknown) is talking to his soon to be wife. He tells her, “you are altogether beautiful my love, there is no flaw in you.” Coincidentally, this is also what God thinks of you. You were created in God’s image- perfection. God does not make ugly things. What we think about ourselves, is what we think about God because we reflect HIS image!  Therefore, we have no flaws.
Think-
What are the thoughts you have about yourself? What or who do you compare yourself to? How do you view others?  (Write down your answers in a journal this week.)
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Pray that God would help you to believe your beauty- the fact that you are flawless! Pray that God would make these Power Thoughts a part of your life and your view of yourself: I am disciplined and self-controlled. (I determine my own view of self, not others). I will not live in fear (of perfection, societal standards, others’ opinions).

Saturday, October 5
Study-
Read the Samuel verse. In this verse, the Lord tells Samuel that our outward appearance is not what matters, rather the state of our heart and inward being. The Lord does not care what size we wear, if we have our make-up on, or how tall we are. He cares about our heart and our reflection of Him through our actions and daily walk. Make people want to know what sets you apart from them and why you have the fire and glowing presence about you.
Think-
When someone looks at you, what do they see? Do your daily actions make you beautiful? Do they reflect God or society?  (Write your answers in a journal this week.)
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Pray that God would help you to realize your true beauty and how to use it. Pray that God would make these Power Thoughts a part of your life and your view of yourself: God loves me unconditionally! I pursue peace with God, others, and myself.

Sunday, October 6
Study-
Read the verse in Proverbs. We become what we think about ourselves. What we fill our mind with and repeatedly tell ourselves becomes our way of life and our way of thinking. By allowing others to influence what we think about ourselves, we give up our personal rights to control our own self-esteem. The one and only person that you can always go to and listen to is God! In times of doubt, trust in God to pull you through and bring you the encouragement that you need to hear. Like the verse suggests, do not lean on your own understandings, rather focus on God’s view of you and he will straighten out the bumps in your personal road.
Think-
Do you have personal standards for yourself?  Do you allow others to determine how you view yourself? If not, what do you do to prevent this from happening? If you do, how can you keep being proactive? (Write your answers in a journal this week.)
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Pray that God would reveal to you exactly how beautiful you are and his plans for you. Give your life to him and allow him to be the main driver of your car of life! Pray that God would make these Power Thoughts a part of your life and your view of yourself: I trust God completely. There is no need to worry.

Monday, October 7
Study-
Today your Power Thought is a study point. Linked to the verse Philippians 4:13, repeat this verse during weak times throughout the day: I can do whatever I need to do in life, through Christ. Even at your lowest point in life, God will be there to lift you up and give you strength to move forward. If you ever have a day where you do not feel pretty, worthy, or simply as if you are exhausted and do not want to do anything- turn to God! He is our rock, our strength, our encouragement, and he will always pull you through.
Think-
Continue to focus on the Power Thoughts that have been given thus far. Think about and repeat each one. Have they been effective?  If you haven’t yet, implement these thoughts into your life and watch how they positively change your life and your way of thinking. (Write your answers in a journal this week.)
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Pray over His guidance and your purity of thoughts.  Make each thought a heartfelt commitment to yourself and God.  Live them out.

Tuesday, October 8
Study-
Read the Romans verse.  Power Thought: I put God first in my life. Along with taking our thoughts captive, putting God first in your life creates a buffer between you and the world. By utilizing Power Thoughts and understanding God’s beauty in you, your power through Him, and his guidance, you will be able to ignore what the world says about you and how you should be. Find three verses in the Bible that teaches about putting God first in your life or the positive affects it has once He is there!  (GOOGLE and then underline them in your Bible.)
Think-
Is God truly first in your life? If not, what will you do to get him there? If so, how can you keep him there? What does the Bible say? (Write your answers in a journal this week.)
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Pray that God would reveal any area of your life where you aren’t embracing God’s will for you. Ask God to teach you to trust him and allow changes to be made to allow Him to come first.

Wednesday, October 9, 2013
Reread all of this week’s scripture.  Power thought: I live in the present and enjoy each moment. Your past is gone, you’ve been set free through the salvation of Jesus Christ. All you can do now is look forward, and live in the present. Each moment and experience has become a part of your life for a reason. God is constantly testing our faith through situations he puts in front of us. It is up to us to take our thoughts captive and see the good in every person and situation. By taking our thoughts captive and feeling good about ourselves through God, we will then be able to help build others up.  By following God and aligning your thoughts and actions to His, your witness and influence will be stronger.
Think-
Is there something you regret that you haven’t forgiven yourself for?  Do you believe that God is strong enough to cover that? How can you help others to enjoy the present?
Pray-
Praise God for who he is.  Thank him for your blessings.  Thank him for you past and that you can now celebrate the future.  Pray that he uses the given Power Thoughts to transform your mind.
